Obsession with moral + ideological purity is a poison to any group or movement.

Perfection is not a realistic human concept. There is no person on the planet who has never done anything wrong, who has never been wrong, who holds only ideals and opinions that everyone else would agree with. Constantly expecting people to be perfect (to have always been perfect) is then an exercise in complete futility—people will always fall short of that expectation.

Purity politics exist only to alienate people, prevent actual discourse, and stifle the flow of progress by focusing on a person or concept’s so-called moral purity rather than on actual empirical evidence and facts.
